FOUR CORNERS SCI ANNOUNCES FIRST SABLES SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Ignacio, Colo- The Four Corners Chapter of Safari Club International (FCSCI) is pleased to announce that Makayla Cassady, of Bayfield, Colo., is the 2025 FCSCI Sables scholarship award recipient.

“We are so proud to bring this conservation/education award to our community to support young ladies in their journey to pursue their dreams while doing what they love” said Lea Lindsay, FCSCI Sables Committee President.  

Cassady is active with the Bayfield High School concert and marching band and in her church as a children’s ministry assistant and youth missionary. Her passion for the outdoors and archery shines bright as she assists in coaching other young shooters and ventures on many hunting trips with her bow in hand.

Cassady will begin her studies at Lindsey Wilson College this fall, aiming to pursue a nursing career. While attending the university, she will immerse herself in academic pursuits and showcase her skills as a member of the school’s archery team. Makayla will be competing in various local and national tournaments throughout the season. 

About the Four Corners SCI Sables Committee Scholarship: The Four Corners SCI Sables Scholarship awards $4,000 to a deserving young lady pursuing higher education who embodies a passion for wildlife conservation and education while playing a positive role in hunting. This scholarship supports young women dedicated to furthering conservation education and promoting responsible outdoor stewardship. Recipients are encouraged to continue advocating for wildlife education and conservation efforts in alignment with SCI and the SCI Foundation’s mission.
