The 2025-2026 Big Game Draw application is open!

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has opened the 2025-2026 Big Game Draw! Hunters can now apply for their preferred hunts and review the updated New Mexico Hunting Rules & Information booklet online. Take note, key deadlines include February 12 for bear and turkey and March 19 for other big game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I get the Rules and Information Booklet? 

A: The booklet is available online: Publications – NMDGF. Printed copies will be available at vendors and Game and Fish offices across the state in mid-February.  

Q: What is a Game Hunting License, and why am I required to get one before applying for the big game draw? 

A: A Game Hunting License is valid for small game hunting and is required by state law prior to purchasing or applying for a Big Game or Turkey License. Game hunting licenses and/or stamps purchased through the draw application are nonrefundable. 

Q: If I am going to be applying for hunts for myself and two children, does each person need to have their own account? 

A: Yes. Each person will need their own account. If you have issues logging in or creating an account, you can call the Information Center at 1-888-248-6866 for assistance.  

Q: When does the draw close? 

A: The bear and turkey draw application deadline is Feb. 12, 2025 at 5 p.m. The draw application deadline for all other big game species is March 19, 2025 at 5 p.m.
