Four Corners SCI Announces Collegiate Mentor Program Award Recipient

Ignacio, Colo- Four Corners Safari Club International (SCI) is pleased to announce that Hannah Cronister, of Durango, Colo., is the 2023 Collegiate Mentor Program award recipient.

“We are so proud to bring a new award into our community to introduce hunting to college-age young adults and offer them support into this great pastime,” said Jason Deweese, Four Corners SCI President.  

Cronister is active in her local 4-H and FFA chapter where she raises goats and is a member of the shooting sports team. She was also crowned as the 2023 La Plata County Fair Queen. 

Cronister will get to experience a fully guided pheasant hunt with a group of other young women in Byers, Colo., where she will learn about the conservation projects with the pheasant population in the area.

About the Collegiate Mentor Program: Four Corners SCI, along with Denver Sables is pleased to be a part of this new program. Each year, through a recommendation process or application the Four Corners Chapter selects a college-age youth for this award. The recipient will get an all-expenses paid hunt with a group of other young hunters to learn more about conservation and get an introduction into hunting with experienced guides and educators.

Each year at our annual banquet/fundraiser we present one local young adult with a new hunting firearm and a guided hunt.
